The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) is the Main Organization in the country for the development of the construction industry. It was originally formed as the Association of Contractors of Sri Lanka in 1981, with the initiation of the government of Sri Lanka and the support of the World Bank. With an initial membership of forty contractors, the association has steadily grown, and now has over two thousand five hundred regular members under its umbrella scattered throughout the island.

The Mahabhimani concept will be able to achieve this by selecting the best technicians in the Sri Lanka construction industry and giving them the adoration usually given to vocalists and dancers in popular talent shows. This is the ideal time to activate novel and creative concepts for the upliftment of the local construction industry. So, this novel concept of the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa and under his guidance this is jointly organized by National Construction Association of Sri Lanka[NCASL] and Institute for construction, Training and Development[ICTAD]. This will create pride of professionalism in the minds of the construction industry technicians in the country thereby increasing the number of youth joining the construction industry.
